I hate being forced to use broken software

This afternoon I got a link to see a Video on EBS taken at IT Forum.

I was excited to take a look as I have been invloved with the beta for quite some time now.

But when you go to the link to watch the video, you are forced to install the SilverLight plug-in just to watch it. Well that wouldn’t be too bad except it DOESN’T WORK, if anyone is out there listening, please make sure this CR@P works before you force it on us! What was wrong with good MS old media player, you know you click on the link and it plays the video, what a concept!

Silverlight error message
ErrorCode: 4001
Error Type: MediaError
Message: AG_E_NETWORK_ERROR

Hope you luck is better than mine, let me know how the video is if you can get it to play.

That error is a connection error, not a software error and I found that here at the office behind ISA I would get that but at home, no problems at all.

It’s transient and sometimes occurs and sometimes doesn’t. See if you can go around ISA if you are behind it on that computer.

I am sorry, my Microsoft browser, on my Microsoft OS, can’t find it’s way through my Microsoft firewall, to allow me to view a Microsoft video in a Microsoft plug-in about a Microsoft product. If only I could determine what the commonality is in this situation.

I think I will stop banging my head against the wall and give up on watching the Microsoft marketing video and go have a cup of coffee. Fortunatley I do not have a Microsoft coffee pot so I have a good chance of actually acomplishing that without having to troubleshooting the rest of the kitchen for an hour first.

Well the guy who was helping me debug it said it was an error on the server I was getting the media streaming from and to go tell them to fix it. Given that it was/is the same site you are trying to get the media from it’s a little hard for me to fix. :-)

So the Microsoft guy wants you to go fix the Microsoft site. Guess he doesn’t want to burn one of his support cases :>)
