Yet Another Gotcha, RDP console this time

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

So as Nick point out in HIS POST, the /console switch is gone in the upcoming Windows 2008 Server and Vista SP1, having been replaced by /admin. It sure would have been nice to throw up a warning when you use the old switch and let the user know they are not connecting to the console instead of just dumping them quietly into a non console session. Oh ya, also in case you haven’t made the connection yet in your mind this aslo means if you use the rdp gadget on your Vista desktop, it also connects you to a regular session when you click the console check box, and once again no warning. it almost feels latley like they are going out of their way to make it look and feel like we don;t know what we are doing, could Vlad be on to something here? I sure hope the shy is not really falling, now where is that steel umbrella?

I was catching up on the reading that piled up whist I was out visiting realitives (yes ultimatium from wife, non-geek Holiday or else) and I ran across this from line Vlad “How I got the award (first or second time) is beyond me”, and it just hit me how the ones who do the most are the most suprised when someone notices. So read his post and then drop a note to your favorite group leader, mvp or general do-gooder and just say thankx, no you don’t have to, but it won’t hurt I promise.

I was trying to catchup on my reading today, it is so easy to get behind these days, and I came across this note from VLAD.

I just couldn’t pass up the chance to make sure you knew what he was doing for all of us, just to make sure the mail keeps flowing. Could his father have been a postman? Please hop on over to Vladville and read this one, it is the real Vlad, not the character we all love to hate :>)

Just in time for the holidays he has given us ExchangeDefender Live Archive, please don’t judge it’s value by it’s cost.

Thankx Vlad

New SBS Group Forming in South Carolina

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Ken West, a long time member of the Charlotte SBS Group is starting a local SBS Group in Greenville, SC and is looking for help getting this new group off the ground.  Their meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month at the ECPI College of Technology starting November 13th at 6 PM.  Send Ken an email if you can make it (kwestATlighthousenetworks.org). ECPI: 1001 Keys Dr #100 Greenville, SC 29615

I am going to try and make it down there for the inaugural meeting, as will Mark Crall our PAL for the South East and I wouldn’t be suprised to see Gramps and Tom Anderson drop in as well.
